Come along and see what is planned for Aynho's roads - there are major changes to Croughton Road, Roundtown and the Banbury Road, involving both traffic flow and parking.
The roadshow runs from 3pm to 7pm to give everyone a chance to attend - on the green in front of the Cartwright Hotel.
RIGHTRACKS ROADSHOWS IN AYNHO AND WOODFORD HALSE
A series of roadshows is continuing in South Northamptonshire as part of a rural road safety initiative. The roadshows give information about the Rightracks project which aims to reduce road casualties on rural roads in Northamptonshire.
The next roadshows will take place on:
Tuesday 1 December, 3-7pm, outside the Cartwright Hotel, Aynho.
Wednesday 9 December, 3-7pm, Phipps Road bus lay-by, Woodford Halse.
As a Beacon Authority for road safety excellence, Northamptonshire County Council, as part of its work in the Casualty Reduction Partnership, has been awarded £1.5 million from the Department for Transport to fund the project, which is investigating the problems facing drivers on rural roads.
Operation Guardian
Behind every bargain is a victim of crime
It's tempting to buy cheap goods, but the real price of your bargain may be a victim of crime- an elderly lady has been burgled of her jewellery, a child has had their bike stolen, a sat nav has been snatched from a vehicle.
In many cases goods are stolen from the most vulnerable people in our society. The goods are stolen, not because they appeal to the thief directly but the thief knows they can be sold for cash.
Anyone who receives stolen goods or assists the thief in any way to dispose of the goods is actively encouraging the thief to steal. This is why the penalty for handling stolen goods is greater than that for theft.
If you are offered cheap goods, no matter how good the 'bargain' appears to be, please don't buy them. Call the Police (03000 111 222) or Crimestoppers (0800 555 111) and tell us where and when you saw them.
Every single piece of information we receive from you can help to stop this crime. Thank you.
Car Crime Advice
With the likelihood of frosty weather predicted for the coming weeks, please be aware of the following advice.
Every year at this time, when there is a hard frost on the ground and on the windscreen, thieves get up early. They spend their mornings driving around villages and housing estates looking for the tell tale puff of an exhaust pipe.
When they find a car that has been left unattended with its engine running to defrost, they simply jump in and drive it away. Often the victim is able to watch as the thief drives away in their car.
We would urge everyone not to be tempted to leave your vehicle unattended at any time with its engine running. It is making a gift of your valuable car to people who don't deserve it. In addition to this, leaving your keys inside may well invalidate your insurance!
Please pass this seasonal reminder to as many of your neighbours and friends as possible. Thank you.
Community Panel Meetings
Your local Safer Community Team (SCT) would like to invite you to attend the next Community Panel meeting for your area.
At these meetings, you have the opportunity to talk about any problems or concerns you may have in the locality where you live or work. After these discussions, those attending agree on a maximum of three priority issues for the local SCT and partner agencies to try to resolve over the following three months.
These can include such topics as anti-social behaviour, speeding, vehicle/motorbike nuisance, lack of youth provision..... anything which is creating problems or is a cause for concern in your local community.
Police officers and representatives from other agencies will also report back on what has been done over the past three months with regard to the previous locally identified priorities and give an update on overall crime in your area.
Anyone from the community is welcome to come along and members of your local SCT look forward to meeting you.

16/11/09 SMS messaging for deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired
Northamptonshire Police is committed to providing a service that is accessible to everyone. The force has recently introduced a dedicated SMS text messaging service for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or with speech impairment. Once registered, users are given a text number enabling them to text reports of any non-emergency incidents or non-urgent queries they have.
Upon receipt of a text message, staff in the Force Communications Centre will respond via text message too.
Lynn Coppin, Customer Relations Officer for the Force Communications Centre, said: "We are 100% committed to providing a service accessible to everybody in Northamptonshire. "We are encouraging more people to sign-up to this service, which they can do by texting us on 07843 291924, by emailing CommsCentreCustomerRelations [at] northants [dot] police [dot] uk or via Text Relay on 18001 01604 432521. "This is for non-urgent incidents or enquiries only."
In an emergency, people still need to call 999, or if they have TextRelay, the contact numbers are: Emergency 18000 or non-urgent 18001 01604 432521.
It is hoped that in time the service will be rolled out to include emergency calls, with a national pilot scheme now underway to assess this possibility.
The pilot for including emergency calls in the service is being supported by the Royal National Institute for the Deaf, who have been working with the National Policing Improvement Agency and telecommunications companies.
If the trials are a success it is hoped the national emergency SMS service will be launched in 2010.
Thank you
