25/11/2011 Update on the Introduction of Police Crime Commissioners (PCCs)
Dear all,
The Home Office has released more details regarding the elections of Police Crime Commissioners (PCCs) in each police force area in England and Wales taking place on 15 November 2012.
PCCs will be able to set priorities for the police force within their force areas, respond to the needs and demands of their communities more effectively, ensure that local and national priorities are suitably funded by setting a budget and the local precept, and hold to account the local chief constable for the delivery and performance of the force.
This link http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/police/police-crime-commissioners/ is the general Home Office page for the most up-to-date links and updates regarding PCCs.
What’s happening from a Neighbourhood and Home Watch Perspective?
Clinks have been awarded the Home Office fund for delivering support to the voluntary sector regarding the rollout of PCCs and they are currently in the process of gathering the needs of the voluntary sector by way of a meeting taking place in London on the 13th December 2011. From this meeting, a plan will be drawn up with what tools and training will be available for us to use. Unfortunately, this meeting clashes with our National Board and Regional Representative meeting in Leicester. However, Ron Simpson from Rutland will be attending on our behalf and will be feeding back on the developments from the meeting.
We will ensure that we keep you all up-to-date and promote suitable toolkits to help you decide how you will approach the introductions of the PCCs over the forthcoming year.
Regards,
